Ver Sacrum Online

In recent years, the Belvedere library has digitalized some of its key holdings. Now we are working intensively on making these digital magazines, exhibition catalogues, and monographs accessible in the Digital Library.
The Secession’s magazine Ver Sacrum is available as an ebook.

The sumptuously illustrated magazine Ver Sacrum (Latin for “Sacred Spring”) was published as the official organ of the Vereinigung bildender Künstler Österreichs (Association of Austrian Artists) and was the most important publication in the early years of the Vienna Secession. Ver Sacrum provides a wealth of information, lavishly illustrated and ornamented with the aim of spreading awareness of modern art. In addition to the images, the magazine includes literary articles, art criticism, and art-historical essays.

Ver Sacrum started out as a monthly magazine and from the third year was issued twice a month with a smaller print run.
