Tobi Maier is a curator and writer based in São Paulo, where he was an associate curator for the 30th edition of the Bienal de São Paulo (2012). Previously, he worked as a curator at Frankfurter Kunstverein in Frankfurt am Main (20062008), in the curatorial team of Manifesta 7 in Rovereto (2008), and at Ludlow 38 in New York (20082011). Recent exhibitions organized by Tobi Maier include Os trópicos at Caixa Cultural, São Paulo (2014) and The Second Sex - A visual footnote at CAC La Galerie, Noisy-le-Sec, Paris (2013) as well as monographic exhibitions by Fabiana Faleiros, Barbara Wagner/Benjamin de Burca, Ricardo Castro und Libidiunga Cardoso.
He co-edited OEI#6061: Extra-disciplinary spaces and de-disciplinizing moments. In and out of the 30th Bienal de São Paulo (2013) and OEI#66: poema/processo (2014).
In addition Maier contributes to a variety of journals and lectures frequently. He holds a MA Curating Contemporary Art from the Royal College of Art, London and is currently undertaking PhD research in the department of Poéticas Visuais at the Escola de Comunicações e Artes, Universidade de São Paulo. In early 2015 he co-founded the exhibition space SOLO SHOWS in downtown São Paulo.
